Last month I posted about my first automatic knife, a Boker Plus Strike (http://smith-wessonforum.com/firearms-knives-other-brands/638134-my-first-auto-knife.html), and I mentioned that I may want to get a OTF next.

Well...

While I would've loved to have gotten a Microtech, they are way outside my budget. Looking at budget OTFs, I came across this one at Grindworx for $35. Looked good, and the reviews I've seen on YouTube were positive, so I basically made an impulse buy.

Stainless steel tanto blade, with pocket clip and glass breaker pommel. Some nicely textured grip panels. Fires and retracts with authority. A little bit of blade play, but from what I understand that's to be expected with OTFs. Had a pretty nice edge out of the box, cuts paper cleanly, better than my Boker's edge out of the box. I may do a little refining, but I think it's pretty good as is. I did end up wiping it down with some Lubriplate as it seemed to have some oil/grease residue on the blade, probably from the internals. Blade's about 3", which is what I consider ideal for an EDC blade length, at least for my needs/wants.

Here it is with my Boker for comparison...

It's a little heavier and thicker than my Boker, but still pockets pretty easily. I'm not too concerned about it firing in my pocket as the button requires a pretty deliberate push to fire.

I don't know if it'll become an EDC because I really like my Boker for that role. Then again, I wasn't sure if the Boker would replace my Delica, which it has (unless I have to go somewhere automatics are prohibited). I'll probably carry it around for a while to try it out.

At the very least, I've got myself a new fidget toy. ;)

I'm not a big fan of OTF knives but I have one. Even with solid buttons they're just not my fave and I do like switchblades, I have a lot of those.

I bought the knife solely to go with the SCCY pistol. They're both put away. Actually, I haven't seen the knife for awhile so maybe I lost it in the 2018 fire. The SCCY I still have. Weird little thing.....

Someday I'd like a nice one, just as someday I'd like a nice watch. That said, I see how often boredom working at home leads to me playing with the out the side auto or the butterfly knife and I really don't need another self-stabbing risk until I'm working somewhere with better insurance.

I like OTF knives. They are sure convenient for everyday tasks.

I have a rather expensive Benchmade Infidel, but for most tasks, a cheap $25 special is workable.

I bought a mini Microtech and for a few weeks it was pretty cool to sit there and flip it open and then flip it shut. Not much other use for it. I found that if you place your finger firmpy against the opening and press the button the blade will not come out but it WILL draw blood. Then I misplaced it.....One day I will find it and it will be like Christmas in July.....I like toys :D
