I'm in the market for a second safe. I'm looking at ones that are 24-30 inches wide, 12 ga. box, exterior hinges, interior with half long guns, half shelves. These usually seem around 400-500 lb. I like American made, and my budget is around $1000. What advice or opinions do you guys have. I know that no safe is totally secure, but my home has layers of security, video cameras, good windows, and doors. Some of those I like are Safeguard standard, Browning SP-15, and Superior Ironside SI-17.

Look for the best deal on an American made safe delivered and installed. Look at the warranty also. Some companies offer a lifetime warranty and some don't. And many have a free replacement warranty due to burglary or fire including opening, removal, and delivery. Some don't.

I am most familiar with Liberty and Cannon. Excellent warranty service.

Aloha,

Whatever you get, make sure it is Bigger than what you think you want.

It will fill up rapidly with guns you think you'll need or want.

Also, get one for the Wife if she doesn't have one now.

You'll make her happy, she can put her "stuff" in it.
