Im asking because-partly for lack of time when im thinking of the subject but, I was wondering what y'all feel are the best of the national car insurance companies? Basically, any-good info for: Liability and Uninsured Moterist. Ive only had time (when thinking about it?) to check into GEICO.

What'r your opinions?

The car is a 2005 Kia Rio Wagon Hatchback.

A lot of how an insurance company treats its insureds is determined by how tough the state's insurance commission is, and how fair the legal climate is if you have to sue the company to make them comply with the policy and the law.
Whatever company you go with, be sure to ask about UNDER-insured coverage as well as UNinsured.

Before I retired, I had made claims against just about every auto insurance company licensed in my state for improper conduct against their own insureds, with frequency about proportionate to the number of premium dollars each had collected here. That being said, I'd suggest that you Google the website for the NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) and check their statistics for improper claims conduct on any insurer in your state that you are thinking about using.

Had State Farm for many years. Wife said shop them to see if we could do better. Ended up going with AAA and saving about $500/yr for the exact same coverage.

Attorneys who defend insurance claims very rarely use the big companies such as Allstate, Progessive, Geico, State Farm, etc.

They know how much trouble these companies cause their insureds with claims.

Find an independent broker who represents many companies.

Don't base your decision on a few bucks in premium cost: you can't imagine the cost to you of the claims adjusting practices of the very cheep premium insurers.

Never use a one company agent.

Used State Farm for years, claims were always paid quickly and in full ( hail likes me [emoji57])

I had State Farm about 10 years ago.

On a whim I got a quote from Geico. Premiums were 50% less for the same coverage with a lower deductible. I really didn't believe it so I went to my SF agent and showed him the quote figuring he'd point out something I missed or some type of gimmick. He said he simply couldn't compete, but he was a full service agent so if I ever had a claim he would be there to assist me with it where Gieco is basically a phone and online operation. I switched to Geico the same day

I had Farmers Insurance and it was good, no problems and about three years decided to price compare. I have excellent records and am a bit over 21 so nothing unusual. Safeco (Liberty Company I think) was best deal by far, State Farm second best, Geico wasn't even in the ballpark and Allstate was a total joke. How they sell anything is beyond me. Seems like we priced a couple more but can't recall the names. I made a cheat sheet of what I wanted for coverage for vehicles and the home and everyone competed from the same numbers with small differences. Otherwise you will drive yourself nuts with the differences. I even had inventory of my firearms to get them ensured. We now will do this about every 3 years as it can save one some money it appears. One company I haven't seen mentioned is American Family. At one time they were notorious for making you put on aftermarket parts from an accident and I didn't like that.

I know the big boys have their own adjusters which is OK for basic claims and they bring in storm troopers for the big storms. The smaller independents use local claims companies - always check with them on that piece. I did work on cars many years ago and the independents were easier because they didn't feel like they had to save the insurance company so much money by cutting corners.

Last time I checked, USAA and Amica continue to be the leaders in customer service. I'm happy with USAA.

A while back I was down at AAA getting maps- books.
I was probably the the prosperous looking customer there- actually I know I was, I was the only customer.
The Car Insurance guy came over and said, how about a car Insurance quote?
I reply, you don't really think I'll leave USAA, do you?
He replied , we had a guy do that a couple of weeks ago. ??

I was with State Farm for years. Even when I worked for Safeco.
I was uncomfortable with being insured by the same company I was working for so I stayed with State Farm.
After I retired from Safeco, I switched to them because of the employee discount. (no agent commission).
I occasionally check with other companies offers but have yet to find one that will beat the premium I'm currently paying......

My insurance????

Gieco! I've had no problems with them. And like they're online services. Wife pays online with paperless billing. Fast, Easy and Simple.

I checked USAA out.
They were $20 more on the SUV & Truck and $180 more on the house then my State Farm!

Last year when my Allstate came due I decided to get quotes from all the major companies, including USAA. I had to open a USAA online account in order to proceed filling out the quote application. I entered a lot of personal information. All was fine until they requested a Social Security number, which none of the others required just to obtain a quote. I refused to give them my SSN online, so the quote process ended. Then began the constant E-mails from USAA that became very annoying. I ended up going with AAA, both home and auto, at a substantial lower rate than any of the others.

This year I again decided to get quotes to see if I could find a lower rate than AAA. Just out of curiosity I went to the USAA web site and entered my username and password that I had created the previous year. To my surprise the account still showed Active, even though I had not done any business with USAA. I contacted them through E-mail and requested that my account be closed. I was informed that once an account is created it is there "For Life"! I then wrote a letter to USAA demanding that my account be closed and that I did not want any of my personal information shown on their web site. That letter fell on deaf ears and my info is still there, including my wife's name, home address, etc. Now when I see one of their commercials where they guy says he is a USAA customer for life I have to chuckle, because there is no way to get rid of them once you are in their system. That really is a lousy way to due business! I did change my E-mail address to some phony one, and that has stopped the annoying E-mails.

AAA came in the lowest again this year so I am sticking with them.
