Options on grips for a 4" Model 63 Kit gun

Before Christmas I found a nice Square Butt, 4 inch Model 63....which come spring I hope to actually use as a .22 Kit Gun. My current "Kit Gun" is a 3" Model 60-10.... think Micro 686) round butt.

The stock Magna's on the 63 are to small.... so I mounted a Hogue smooth wood, single finger grove mono grip...... which are OK........ but

My go to revolver grips since the 80s are Spegel Boot or Extended Boot Grips..... but Craig is currently backed up for a year or more. So an set of Extended Boot grips for this 63 aren't in the cards.

Been doing some research, Factory,Executioner Stag, Nills, Hogue, Ahrends, Esmeralda's ......... but Square butt J-frame grips aren't all that common.

I prefer wood....... and I want working grips so I'd prefer not to spend too much...... but that may not be an option......

So I thought I'd solicit ideas and pictures from the Forum folks............

Altamont makes grips for S&W IIRC. They generally run about half of what other custom stock makers charge. Fit and finish is excellent, and they make them for round or square butt.

I really like these older checkered targets that have the black washers and tapered bottom. Shown here on a 63-4 5".

I put Altamont grips on my square grip 34-1. I also thought the Magna grips too small and these super walnut Altamont grips solved the problem. I do like them.

A few years back I bought a set of factory target grips for my newly acquired Model 63 4" bbl. (came with Pachmayr Presentations) from a forum member here and they are perfect for me.
Just put an ad for whatever you prefer in the WTB section of the forum and see what happens. My Targets were Like-new and reasonably priced.

I put these Pachmayr's on my 63 as soon as I bought it in the early 90's. Not sure I'd do it all over again, maybe opt for something a little smaller now. But these Pachmayer's make the 63 a very straight shooter for me.

Factory square butt smoothies can usually be found for $50-$75 depending on how pretty they are, and I have seen a lot of very nicely figured Goncalo Alves stocks for J frames. Here is my Model 63 with some stocks that I found at a gun show for a very reasonable price. They feel much better than the Magnas.

Culina Grips' site says they have some "****New Styles in the Works***** S&W J Frame".

Might give Grip Maker's Wife a shout and see what they've got cookin'.

My S&W 63 came with these Pachmayrs.

I had these Herrett's on my S&W 63 for a while.

I looked for a set of factory J frame combats but wound up with a set of targets.
