Okay, this was a great day!! ....................... Why, you ask?

Because I finally made a decision!! After a couple of months of wishy washy thinking and changing my mind numerous times.................................... I ordered a Shield 9mm with the Crimson Trace Green Laser already on it!! I am pumped. I ordered it from Grab A Gun for $485. When checking local gun shops, I found prices for the Shield 9 anywhere from $399 to $449, so I thought why not just get the one with the laser already for only an extra $85. Checking the Crimson Trace website, this laser goes for $279.

I am pumped! I should get an email in a couple of days to come to the Coppell, TX store to pick it up. I only live about 30 miles from it. I also ordered two 8 round extended mags. They were $16.99 each. I saw them in the local Academy Sports store for $35 each. All of this together makes me feel even more excited about this purchase, it is a great deal!

That's a great deal! I got mine just over a month ago for $379 then bought the CT green laser off Ebay for $225 so you're way ahead. Congratulations on your purchase. I think you'll like it.

What holster are you using? Are you carrying IWB?

Great choices! I love my Shield for EDC. I have also thought about Laser Dot for the Shield, but so far have not walked down that path.

I have Crimson trace Red and Green dots on my other two handguns. No problems with either.

Enjoy your new purchase, once you get your hands on it. :-)

I bought a DeSantis IWB at the same time I bought the pistol but made my own leather OWB-Belted after getting the CT mounted about a two weeks later. I'm considering going back to a IWB in, COUGH, plastic but since winter is setting in, concealment isn't an issue. I probably need a new belt. I just don't particularly like the scratching noise made by plastic holsters. In most cases it doesn't matter but in others the sound is unmistakable to some that turn around to you when they hear it. And I'm not yet convinced that the plastic won't wear on the pistol. I've always used leather holsters.

There's too many variables from one person to the next--Size, shape, preferred clocking and even region or location. I wore my previous carry IWB but was having to constantly adjust it when getting out of a car. The DeSantis and Shield ride a little higher (larger pistol) but it's straight up and down and I was trying different clocks to get the best feel. I like my grips at a slight cant forward so I made one. I may make another in a few months when the weather changes back to HOT, I don't know yet. We only have two seasons down here; Bitter cold (30s) and hot (110+). :)

If your LGD has a good stock of holsters, you might ask him to let you try a few when you pick up your pistol. Be sure to see how they feel when you sit down though. And also whether you can get to it when seated (in a chair or car). Some folks don't care but I don't know how they get to where they're going without sitting a car sometime.

Grab a Gun emailed today and said it was ready for pick up. I was not able to get there today so it will be Monday before I can be Shielded!

I probably will not sleep all weekend.

Great thoughts about holsters!!

Thanks,

I have some CT red lasers on a couple pistols but decided to try the Viridian Reactor on my Shield. It is freaking awesome. I like the green far better than the red and that instant on feature as well. I know you will like the CT green laser. Have fun!

Hi,

Yeah, I had to wait a week for my Shield earlier this year. Was checking with the gun store every other day. Reminded me of being a kid waiting for Christmas. Glad I got it though. Very easy for EDC. I think you'll find it easy to shoot and carry as well.

Take care and Shoot Straight, :-)

I was able to pick up my new Shield CT Laser 9mm shooting iron today. Now I need to clean and lube it, find a holster for it, and then take it shooting.

For my 9c I use a Crossbreed SuperSlide that I have modded some. I increased the cant angle so the butt of the grip is further forward. This helps the butt not dig into the seat back cushion when in the truck. I have also reduced the size of the leather backer a little here and there to keep it off my lower rib. Finally, I skip the 3 oclock belt loop on my jeans. (Wranglers have a 430 loop that not all jeans have) This allows me to easily slide the holster forward and backward a little w/o anyone noticing. I may move it forward a little in the truck and then backward a little to allow easier access to the front pocket of my jeans where my cash and atm card are. Don't get the horsehide version as it squeaks way too much.

I have aquired a new Shield 9 PC with FO sights.
Decided to order the Green Crimson Trace and the Kydex IWB holster made for it.
Love the Shield. Have about 500 downrage and its very accurate even without the laser.

Joe,

I got mine a few days ago. It was $499 + tax, but no shipping or FFL.
I haven't shot it yet, but looking forward to it.

I'm 70 years old, and my laser surgery is starting to wear off.
I don't want to over hype the laser, but when it gets hard to focus on the front sight, the laser is a blessing.

Not too long ago, the green laser sight alone was costing $400. :)

You should love it. I've had mine for more than a year now and, it is perhaps the easiest gun I have to EDC. I got a Concealment Express holster for it. They actually make one for the Shield with the green laser. I think it was $35.
