This guy has been going in and out of our dog pen, often to feed on dried flowers and whatever else it can find. It lives just outside the dog fence in our backyard under a big spruce tree and wanders in now and then for a snack.

Despite the subzero temps in northern WI, it looks pretty well fed and hardy. When our three mini-dachshunds get a whiff of it, somehow the rabbit gets out. Hard to fathom how these critters can survive 50 below wind chills.

The designer knew what He was doing. ;)

My wife and I deliver newspapers at night. One night alongside a major highway, I saw what I though was a hunk of newspaper or something. Turned out to be a white rabbit. I thought I was seeing something. A couple of nights later, I saw it again, and asked my wife if she saw it. "I THOUGHT that was a rabbit." We've seen it several times since then, including one night with snow on the ground (red eyes really shine in the headlights). It's always in front of the same house, so I assume it's someone's pet they let run around loose at night. It wasn't out last night that I saw, but it was a few nights ago when it was down to 10...downright frigid here in Central Virginia.

I once heard a line in a play: "Turtles prove I have a sense of humor" (Spoken by God).

Personally, I think the platypus does,

we had a rabbit all summer and was hoping he would be around for the winter, but haven't seen him a while. got plenty of deer though.

Looks pretty healthy to me. But then some of the warmest gloves I've owned over the years have been lined with rabbit fur. The critters are pretty well insulated this time of year.

I have several running around the yard at night. I wouldn't mind but they set off all of my motion lights (6 in total) and I keep getting up see who might be lurking around my backyard looking for stuff to steal. I found the remains of one a couple of years ago that looked like it might have fallen prey to a local coyote.

Seems like every spring their are at least 2 very tiny ones hiding in the lawn and I am always concerned when I get the riding lawnmower going. One year I found mama's grass clipping nest in the yard with two as small as hamsters inside. Thats what really made me concerned about mowing.
