Can you believe this? Unfortunately, not much surprises me anymore (not good)...I'm speechless, mad and disgusted. Check this out:

The HGTV website featured a segment titled, “Classic Fourth of July Table Setting Ideas.”The photographs show bowls of fruit and a jar of lemonade sitting atop Old Glory. They called the flag an “unconventional table” linen."

“Drape a large American flag over the table as a bright and festive table runner,” HGTV suggested. “Use a nylon flag so spills can be easily wiped off and the flag can later be hung with pride on a flag pole.”

Fortunately, HGTV got quite a backlash. But what in the world were they thinking? Here's the link:

Not much more I can say, how low will we go?

How low will we go? Lowes is selling American Flag themed door mats !!!! They've seen the last dollar I will be spending in their store.

A few of us Sailors and a few good Marines went to VA beach during the 4th back in the early 80's. A dirty looking wanna-be hippie with long dreadlocks and his equally straggly girlfriend decides to park themselves too close to our party , using a large American Flag as their beach towel.

Naturally some words were exchanged and a few of our party decided to use their "freedom of expression to show them just how offensive their action were.

I see shirts made of the Stars and Stripes, the wearer told me it was his way to show he was a Real American.

As long as they are not spitting at it or setting it on fire. What are you going to do about "fashion"?

What a disheartening display.:(

I guess it's OK to offend people as long as they are not a Liberal minority group.

Yeah, wouldn't be the first time I've exchanged words (and more) with someone that doesn't know proper flag etiquette.
Really, I didn't know he had it knotted around his neck.:D
Luckily the LEO that showed up was less than impressed with the idiot as well.

Actually, it is illegal to use it as a garment.
I'm sure they would argue "it's a flag pattern, not a flag".
I still think it is tacky.

No one knows flag etiquette anymore.
You even have to tell people to stand during the Anthem and take off their hats and face the flag.

I cringe when the Olympics are on and we take the Gold, cause I know the victory lap is coming, complete with the flag shawl/sweat rag.
Could the Olympic Committee please buy them some little flags on sticks they could do the lap with? The flag should not be used as a gym towel.

U.S. flag etiquette, which is codified in federal statutes, prohibits the placing of anything above, on top of or afixed to the American flag or displaying it any manner other than than proscribed by law. Anything else is an abomination. Unfortunately may of our fellow Americans don't have a clue. Sad..very sad.
