Tried many, but I've not found an OWB concealment holster for the J Frame that I REALLY like.

Here are my requirements:

* open top
* straight drop (don't like canted holsters)
* must hold the revo close to the body
* not too big/heavy

Recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

Honestly, I've never understood OWB with a J-frame. I'll carry a 3" K-frame with little to no difference in concealment...

Just saying...

Thanks for the suggestions.

Seems that the Don Hume JIT for right hand is in short supply - back ordered everywhere.

StanMN19 - where can you buy the Lopper?

Thx

IMHO the best there is in that style holster is the Kramer Horsehide Belt Scabbard. They are available in both straight and canted models - your choice. They are custom made and a little pricey, but they are light, strong, close to the body, rely on proper fit (not straps & snaps) to retain the gun and worth the coin if you can swing it. They are the only brand OWB holster I buy anymore. While you're at it, get the Horsehide belt also. The Horsehide is stiffer than Cowhide, and stands up quite a bit better than the Cowhide. They are simply the best holsters I've ever owned!

I have two Alessi CQC pancake holsters for a 4" 686 and 29-8 .44 Mag Mountain gun. These holsters have a 15 degree cant, which I prefer for concealment. Their DOJ holster is a folded version with a belt loop and wing slot, and a 0 degree cant.

Their design, materials and workmanship is absolutely first rate, and they have a wide popularity in law enforcement. Allow 10 weeks for delivery.

I also recommend Ryan Grizzle, for high quality leather. His delivery is running under 8 weeks (varies), and you can see which week's orders he is working on at his website. I have three of Ryan's holsters, including an IWB for the 4" 686.

Look no further than a Lobo pancake for your needs. He's a member and a great craftsman who will do you right! For a custom holster you can't beat his prices for the quality you're receiving.

I was just looking at their website and I don't see the one for the J Frame listed on there. I know they have it, they just must not have updated their website yet. Just give them a call, they are a very good, local company. Local to me anyways......

I have bought both, the Don Hume and the Looper. They both make really good products and you can't go wrong either way. But, in my opinion, the Looper is a more durable, sturdier built product. The Don Hume seems to get "looser" pretty quick. That might explain the price difference.
