My local gun shop hosted a customer appreciation day yesterday with discounts on all guns. I was pre-determined to buy a Sig or Glock but after spending a good part of the day there trying everything for grip comfort, I ended up ordering a M&P in 40 S&W. They had a 9 in stock but offered me the same price on a 40 that they had to order. I want to order a holster for it and think I want an OWB after trying an IWB on there. I am very open to recommendations on an OWB based on experierences of others.

Thanks,

Jerry

I have a Don Hume leather thumbreak that I can carry either my full size or compact. I really like it.

I also have a D.M. Bullard that is either OWB or IWB. But I haven't used it much yet. It's closed on the end so it only fits the compact.

I personally like something in a mid ride height and a decent amount of cant to carry my full size. For a snap removable holster I don't think you can beat a Milt Sparks Axiom.

Or for a simple belt slot pancake this one is for sale in the classifieds on this forum.

Check out psholsters.com They are similar to Raven but cost a little less, and they have M&P holsters ready to ship. Mine took less than a week.

All makers of holsters have an offering for OWB M&P...you need to decide on what features you do and don't want, what materials, how much is too much etc. and then purchase the highest quality holster you can afford.

For me that is Milt Sparks VM-2 and Kramer #3 these however are IWB. Perhaps trying a high quality IWB will change your mind.....these same makers offer GREAT OWB products as well.

Use a sturdy belt and you are good to go.

OWB Holster

Think I am going with the Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe IWB for the time being. I have to fly to Florida and drive back and for the time being, want max concealment.

May try OWB later on.

Thanks!

Check out the IMI/RSR/ITAC paddle retention holster. They also sell belt loop and molle attachments for the back. The inside of the holster is very smooth and clicks in nice and secure.

CDNN has the exact same holster for $17 under their "Target Sports" name. The accessories from ITAC will fit it just fine. Also, they use the stock photos for multiple holsters but they look just like the type on the ITAC website.

S&W M&P 9/40 Retention Black Holster New Israeli Tactical

I have one for my fullsize 1911s and just ordered one for my M&P FS. One thing I like about it over the SERPA is that the release button sits slightly higher above the trigger. It also seems to fit tighter to the body which is a big plus for concealment.
