Well, guys, my new full-size M&P9 M2.0 pistol will be on its way to my FFL in the next few days.

First order of business: What OWB holster are you using with your M&P9 M2.0?

Purchase place and price appreciated, too.

Thanks, guys.

Are you looking for form or function? What's your budget?

Now that I've ask those questions, for the best bang for your buck, I'd suggest the Alien Gear Cloak Slide. Its inexpensive at about $35, comfortable, has good retention, and has a warranty second to none.

Simply Rugged makes a tremendous product, but you'll have to wait on it to be made, and it's a few bucks more.

High end that looks beautiful, is very functional, and will last a life time, Milt Sparks or Tucker gun leather. These also require you wait a bit for them to be made, but well worth the wait.

It all depends on what you want and what you want to pay. Good luck in your search.

Looking more for function than form, since it won't be seen; I'm more interested in how it works, not how it looks.

I'd also prefer a production piece over a custom-made piece.

Regarding price, less is best.

Also, I prefer options which cover the entire trigger guard and barrel.

Thanks.

My regular is the alien gear cloak owb paddle holster.

I might change my mind after my son's shape shift core kit comes in. I just like I can change the shell for whatever I want. And currently my holster is setup for M&P 9mm 4", which works with my 40c and shield 9 as well

For my 1.0 full size 9, I use a Blackhawk Serpa cqc holster. Now I will note up to this point I mainly have used it while out on family property and at ranges. Esp out working I like it’s setup and security. There are those who like the holster and those who don’t; and I cant say how it works for daily carry. But it may be worth looking at anyway as the cost is reasonable ($40-50 +/-) and they tend to be readily available in retail and online.
I have been considering Alien Gear as well; since they can bundle up options to give some nice variety.

My regular is the alien gear cloak owb paddle holster.

When you say "paddle", I think of my former Safariland holster, in which the holster slips over the belt (on the outside of the pant), and the paddle slips over the belt (on the inside of the pant). The paddle is curved, and will only fit in the small of your back.

I removed the "paddle" and replaced it with the belt loop attachment; it takes more time install/remove, but it's much more comfortable - with more location options.

It appears that the Alien Gear holster is secured by the belt, and the "paddle" is on the outside of the pant and behind the holster, yes? If so, I like the concept, and the price is right.

Would you consider the Alien Gear Cloak to be a long lasting solution?

With Alien Gear, you get a lot of plus's. Try it for 30 days, if you don't like it, send it back for a full refund, no hard feelings.

Next, if you change carry guns, fill out the exchange form, send in your old holster shell, they send you a brand new shell for your new gun. No charge except for the postage to send in the return.

Last, if anything breaks, ever.....they will repair or replace it at no charge.

If you decide to carry IWB, simply buy the IWB base you like, leather, 3.0, whatever, and the shell you already have will mount on it giving you another carry option. Just know that revolver bases and semi auto shells don't work together and vice versa. If you choose the Shape Shift version, there are even more options available.

Check Winthrop Holsters. I have 4 of their leather pancake holsters...good quality and affordable.

I wear it on my right side. If I use a belt, the paddle is on the outside of my pants. If I don't use a belt I slip the paddle in my jeans. It holds plenty secure on my jeans without a belt to draw without issue, it doesn't come off.

It's such a slight curve it can go all the way around where ever you prefer to place it.

I've never used the actual belt slide attachment as I seldom use a belt. But then again, their cloak 3.5 IWB holsters stay in place on my jeans without a belt too. Just that the paddle is easier to remove should I need to and doesn't require body tension for pistol retention.

And yes, long term solution, I've had mine since release and haven't had and issue.

I've got the one cloak paddle OWB, 3 or 4 of their OWB belt slide holster(this is their cheapest model and probably the most concealable OWB holster I've use), and a couple of the cloak 3.5 IWB holsters.

I'm anxious to check the shape shift core kit my son bought, I like the thought of the quick change holsters, and the retention is strictly with the trigger gaurd, covering both sides of the trigger. To me it looks 'bulkier', but video reviews say no discernable difference. Well see.

In 32 years of CC I never carried OWB , Never found a holster that holds a handgun tight enough to the body like a IWB .

Good luck

I have nelson holsters owb for woods carry . Very nice but not cheap or fast .

maybe COOK'S Holsters can cover your needs

I checked out the websites for all of the OWB holsters recommended by forum members here, and to my surprise, I'm liking the Alien Gear Cloak Mod OWB @ $47.88 plus shipping.

I like the Alien Gear Cloak Mod OWB because: 1) it includes paddle AND belt loop mounting hardware, 2) the warranty isn't too shabby, and 3) it was included on search lists for "best OWB holsters" in the past year.

Anyone here using one?

If you’re looking for a concealment OWB I like blackpoint, if you’re looking for dropleg type, I prefer Trex Arms. I don’t like the owners attitude but he makes good products.

Thanks for the recommendation, but my needs are basic, and I prefer the immediate availability, price point and warranty on the Alien Gear product.
