Will an OE 4.25" 9 mm 2.0 barrel fit a 4.25" 40 cal V1, for conversion purposes?

and if so, Will it function properly?

As previously expressed there is a difference in the diameter (at the front) & width (at the back) of the 9mm & 40 S&W M&P barrels. Better to use a designed 9mm conversion barrel, IMHO. And the M&P 9mm magazines, as well.

As far as it "functioning" is concerned, at the range it would probably be OK...?

Reliability would be the question.

P.S. A 40 S&W barrel won't fit in a 9mm slide: too big.
