Password rant....

I've been using dashlane for a password manager for a couple years. Works well - mostly. My bank's two step login process confuses the software, but everything else I have works with it. I use the free version. There is a paid version that syncs to different devices.

I don't 'remember'...

most system compromises occur when someone opens an e-mail that holds a virus not thru hacking a single password .. another way is many people check the little box that says Remember Me .. so all they have to do is click on the password box and it shows up and then all they have to do is hit enter .. don't have to remember the password then .. well a hacker will look for and do the same thing ..

I use a program called Trend Micro ..

I don't 'remember' financial or banking sites. When it comes to guns, well.......

I DID start simple with....

I DID start simple with familiar words and numbers that I would remember easily. But after 25 or so years the requirements to change the password often as well as the added length and complexity plus the number of sites require 'registration' if nothing else, the whole thing has just become unmanageable.:(

I have the names of several past pets that I center most of mine around, but when they tell you to change and you put a variant of that in, it says, "you can't reuse any part of a password' so I think up something new, getting more and more obscure over the years.
