After almost 10 years of looking for one, I finally got my hands on an all black 4563 Performance Center .45 CQB. I had seen a few all silver and 2-tone guns come up, but I held out for the one I wanted and finally got it. The best part is that I already had holsters for it, from when I had a 4566 years ago. I swapped the straight grip out for the rounded version, which I prefer.

The gun shoots great, as I expected, and it's now my favorite carry gun.

It's happy times when something you wanted is finally realized. I understand cause I waited over 15 yrs before I got mine. I wanted a two tone in excellent condition w/everything for a reasonably low price. I suppose I'm more patient, (OK cheap,) than some but it can work out.

To me the "Commander" size is perfect and the 4563's are durably light, amazing examples. I like my 4566, (not CQB,) but these PC's are superior. I wonder why a S&W "Close Quarter Battle" didn't originally have night sights though.(?) Even the 4567's had them. They'd most likely be dead by now but at least there's the option for re-lamping.

I'm glad you finally got the one you wanted. Plus it's in such fine condition.

That's one of the few PC models I don't own .I've never lusted after one like most of my other models . My 45Recon fits the bill for a smaller 45 , or my Shorty45 .Maybe one day I'll find one of those "must haves" but until then I'll keep coming here and admire the ones y'all own .

Yes, that's a minor hiccup. I contacted Novak hoping to get night sights that would maintain the original look but they no longer have any for the 3rd Gen .45's. I can get Trijicons and they should be fine.

Had one for awhile back in the 90s...... couldn't carry a gun with a Billboard of ".45 C.Q.B."........ looked stupid and sent the wrong message!

Could have lived with a CQBxxxx serial number like on my IDPA 5906... DPA00xx

What was the one around the same vintage that had the longer barrel with compensator slots? I liked that one.

In .45 it was the Recon. The original owner put the adjustable rear sight on this one but I have the original. This one is "black" but they were also stainless which I kinda wish mine was.

I must confess that I know nothing about S&W 45xx semi auto handguns. How do these compare to, say, a Sig P220? They look like well balanced designed 45's.

They compare very well quality-wise but most of the S&W 45's had steel frames and were heavy to carry. This particular model has an alloy frame like a P220, which I also have, but with the Performance Center accuracy improvements and hand fitting. It's a winner!

I thought you had the stainless one locked down!
