First trip to the range since changing out my Carry Comp striker block. The Carry Comp shoots well and is accurate. The trigger is now very smooth with a crisp break. The first pic shows my last 3-shot group at 7 yards when zeroing the optic. The shot group was actually touching which is more a credit to the gun than my 79-year-old hands and eyes. The second pic is a just-having-fun target – something over 100 rounds, a lot of rapid fire (accounting for the wild shots), again at 7 yards.

I also brought my PC Shield Plus with 4” ported barrel. They’re basically the same Performance Center gun with different slide treatments. Firing them back-to-back reinforced how much the same they are. Both are accurate flat shooters with nice triggers, same size and weight. I was not able to feel a difference in the muzzle flip between the compensated and ported barrels. Both shoot flatter than my non-ported guns but there was no clear winner.

So, the question is, is the Carry Comp a significant enough upgrade to warrant the purchase if you have a PC Ported Shield Plus? At this point, except for the looks, I believe I would have to say no.

installing optic to carry comp?

Picking up my Holosum 507K Green Dot tomorrow for my new shield plus carry comp. When I install it (and I understand it is a direct fit) (no adapter plate requried)...but the question is do I need to just torque it down tight or do I need Locktite?

thanks.....

I can't tell you if the Holosun is a direct fit or not, but they used to only come with metric screws that won't fit your Carry Comp. Shield Plus optic cuts are threaded for SAE 6-32 screws.

As for Loctite, I would definitely recommend you use Blue 242 (removable) if your screws don't already have the dried drop on them. Re-apply it anytime you re-install the screws.

I would also recommend using a torque wrench to install the screws. I use a Wheeler FAT (Firearm Accurizing Torque) wrench - a good investment if you're going to work on your guns. CT recommends 10 in/lb's for mounting screws.

I also like to use a fine tip paint pen to make a torque mark on the optic screws. It will show you at a glance if one of the screws has vibrated loose.

Holosuns are sold with 6-32 mounting screws. That's pretty standard in the gun space.
