Are the S&W 1911s close enough to use a standard Colt thumb safety (temporarily)?

I want to do some load development with my PC1911 and my scope mount (which I only use for checking accuracy of loads) replaces the left grip panel. An extended grip safety will not allow the scope mount to fit in place so I temporarily replace (on Colts & clones) them with a standard Colt safety.

I have never had the PC gun apart (yet) so I am unfamiliar with its innards.

Thanks
James

Thanks for the input.
Sorry that I didn't make it clearer that it is only going to be used temporarily while I check some loads (chronograph and accuracy) from the bench.
I have fitted up safeties on Colts so I know what you are talking about.
I just haven't had the PC1911 apart yet to take a look at its parts.

All I am really interested in is keeping the parts together while I check some loads.

I guess I was just being lazy in not taking it apart until I had to

Thanks again

The "innards" are the same as a stock 1911 with the exception of the "Swarz" safety mech. PC guns are just handfitted, everything else is the same.
