Since all this talk of shooting rimfire, I've decided to get back into air rifles.
I've had a couple of the S&W/Walther C02 pistols/revolvers and they are ok, but didn't please me as much as an old Benjamin I bought years ago.
Two years ago, I bought one of the Benjamin Discovery rifles beucase it looked and felt a lot like my old Blue Streak, but I could get a fast follow up shots. I really liked the light weight, but wanted a bit more firepower, so I picked up a Maurader .25 about two months ago- talk about a step up in firepower, and I really enjoy it.
I know that there seems to be two main ways people look at air rifles- either that they are toys with little value, or they are an air rifle fanatic- and I've had the pleasure of meeting both. I really enjoy them, and they are a lot of fun.
I do have to admit, that shooting them isn't as cheap as it used to be either- especially since I started shooting my .25- but they are a lot of fun and I'm not spending the money on gunpowder but I'm still getting to shoot a good bit.
I must say that I'm amazed at the amount of "splat!" that the .25 makes when I use it on some steel targets rated for .22 rimfire- nearly identical as standard velocity.
...and the chickens don't get upset.
