I'm new to the forums but have a few years of firearms ownership under my belt. I bought my first .223 rifle about a month ago, An M&P15 Sport 2, and I absolutely love it. I plan on putting a bit of cash into the mods of the rifle and have looked into the PDW style stocks that have started coming out recently. I like the look and the overall shortening that it gives the AR platform rifles. My question is this, will any of these PDW style stocks fit a factory lower/upper of the M&P15 Sport 2? If anyone knows of these mods or has done them themselves please jump on board. I plan on jumping on one of these stocks ASAP. Thanks in advance.

If the stock you are looking at is meant to be a drop in replacement for a mil-spec collapsible stock, it should work fine. Which ones are you looking at?

IIRC for these types of stocks you are going to have to remove the buffer tube and replace it with a propriety one. I believe most Sport IIs castle nuts are staked and they use a thread locker. You will have to use the proper tool to remove it. You might have to heat up the castle nut to free it.

From there get the milspec version of the PDW stock of your choice and then install it based on the manufacturers instructions.

I've been looking mostly at the North Eastern Arms PDW style stock kit. It looks as though it comes with it own buffer, bolt, stock, tubes and springs. I'm pretty sure it'll work just fine but I may try to contact the manufacturer directly to find out for sure. I've built several Mossberg 500's in the past but this will be my first attempt at building/modifying an AR style rifle.
