PETA to target kids with disturbing "Unhappy Meals"

Activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will hand out "Unhappy Meals" to children at an Albany McDonald's restaurant today to protest alleged chicken abuse, according to a statement this morning by PETA.

PETA alleges that McDonald's allows its chicken suppliers to abuse the animals before they are slaughtered for food. The organization advocates "controlled-atmosphere killing," a method that promotes animal welfare.

Children who buy meals at the McDonald's at 391 Central Ave. today beginning at noon will encounter PETA staff, headed by an activist in a chicken costume.

The "Unhappy Meal" that PETA will give to children - a spoof of a Happy Meal - will include a "menacing, knife-wielding" Ronald McDonald cutout, a ketchup packet disguised as chicken blood, a plastic chicken covered in "blood" and a "McCruelty" t-shirt.

The statement indicates that PETA will target children so they will "join its campaign" to convince McDonald's to change slaughter methods.

I think that we are all in agreement that cruelty to animals is unacceptable, however, if I see PETA outside of my neighborhood McNasty when my daughters want to go there, I'm going to mention that I have been to cockfighting arenas in the PI and see where it goes from there...

Exactly. Get the kids away from the game consoles and take them outside, go to a zoo, petting zoo, or a local park. My daughter and I occasionally catch a frog in the yard; we always release it within a short period of time. There is no need for such an extreme measure for a child.

That is horrible to do that to kids. I don't have kids but I have my nieces and nephews with me alot. If they pulled a stunt like that with me I would slap the stuffing out of them.

When I was a kid, I'd have loved an Unhappy Meal. A knife wielding Ronald McDonald? That would have been the greatest thing ever. Too bad they didn't do him up as an action figure.

I'd like one now in fact. Good training aid to teach that clowns are evil.

I'd like to know more about this alleged chicken abuse. Is it sexual in nature? Perhaps psychological and someone told the chickens that they're no good?

Gator-I like the way you think-I think killer clowns are wayyyy cool too.

Good...the more nutty crap they pull...especially involving children, the more people will look at them as a joke and their support will diminish.

Well seeing how these nut jobs act I think if I were accosted by one while with children I'd have to counter thier un-happy meal with a McFist sandwich free of charge. : )

There's a lot to this story that just doesn't make sense, starting with PETA but I won't waste time pointing out the obvious. First off, how in the hell are they getting onto McDonald's property to hand out their "Unhappy Meals"? Second, a knife wielding Ronald McDonald, can anyone say trademark infringement lawsuit?

I used to really dislike PETA, now I find them amusing for how far out there they really are.

Be sure to ask the PETA folks about all the animals they euthanize at their "shelter" in Norfolk. And they don't even get a tasty meal out of it.

I think a Mc Cruelty tee shirt with a "knife weilding' Ronald Mc Dog would be KOOOOL!

My wife says, I act like a little kid sometimes. (so maybe PETA will give me one)

"allows its chicken suppliers to abuse the animals before they are slaughtered"

Oh, the side benefits of being a chicken supplier.

Where do I apply?:D

There is a positive side. All of those traumatized kids will probably buy a gun as soon as they're old enough and join the NRA.
Thanks for the support PETA!!.....Freaks.

Their "Holocaust on your plate" campaign really won them a lot of "friends" in the Jewish community too.

I expect that they're going to scare somebody's kid and in turn be scared themselves. I certainly know I'd be frightened by having a screaming woman kneeling on my chest, trying to gouge my eyes out with her thumbs.
