I have most of a brick of Peters Std Velocity 22 Long Rifle ammo (pic below). Does anyone have an idea of age, history, etc. for this brand?

1960's era box, has the "child warning" so it is post 1962. I believe they may have stayed with this box style up to the early 70's. By that time Peters was just a name, used as an alternate to the Remington label. Both brands were produced in the same plant and by the 60's both had the same U headstamp replacing the earlier distinctive ones used in the 40' and 50's.
 
I have a few boxes left of what I thought would be a lifetime supply, I guess I outlived my estimate. I opened the last brick about 5 years ago.

I bought a very large quantity back in the early 60s through the NRA and CMP, great stuff.
Many, many rounds downrange from the M41s.

It has no bar code,nor zip code.:confused:

Good point, pistola... with no Zip Code, are we thinking pre-63 or just sometime before the use of Zip Codes was more widely embraced due to the child warning desi2358 mentioned? Was the warning added to ammo boxes beginning in 1962?

No worries either way... just asking the question!

I grew up shooting in the late 50's to mid 60's so the Peters box looks very familiar. While everyone was buying the "Hi Speed" ammo, my Dad bought bricks of standard velocity. Made a big difference in my target scores.
 
Harvester I have Remington 22 boxes that the purchaser wrote the date he bought them on the back. The dates are as late as 1968 and the address still has no zip code. I suspect the ammo makers weren't overly concerned with having the zip code on the box as it was available in their sales literature. The "child warning" was mandated in 62 but I don't know how long it was before it actually got on the boxes.
