Philadelphia gunman identified after hourslong standoff

Read this article about the Philadelphia gunman. Allow me to copy and paste a little piece of it:

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said he was thankful that officers' injuries weren't life-threatening.

"I'm a little angry about someone having all that weaponry and all that firepower, but we'll get to that another day," Kenney said.

Wait a minute here.. Read between the lines here, because the devil is in the details. Notice the keyword, "Someone". So the mayor is angry that "someone" had all that weaponry and we'll get to that another day.
This isn't just "someone". This is a career felon that was banned from having any firearms at all, period! Here the mayor is trying to use this as an opportunity to call for gun control. Are you kidding me? This was GUN CONTROL on a small scale!! And it failed!! Surprise surprise.

No he’s not kidding. Just business as usual and another “opportunity” for guys like him. People (voters) who don’t know any better will not think a thing of it.

The anti's logic?
Well if there was a world where you can't just go into a gun store and buy whatever you want, then you won't be able to get it, dar dar.

In this guy's world, that was the reality. In his world he can't walk into a gun store and buy anything. Anyone with half a brain that read that garbage knows that those statement's should set back the anti's agenda, since it was such a failure.

This guy had a record as long as his arm. The Philly DA has more or less instituted a catch and release program for criminals, was this guy part of that I don’t know. But this guy should have been behind bars to begin with! Philly is one of 4 worse criminal cities in the state.
But Philly is very anti gun and this doesn’t surprise me. There was a lot of anti rhetoric being spewed out while this was happening.
As of current news and a statement by the Philly DA all charges past were Federal and they have no Philly arrest conviction file on this guy. According to the DA this guy was just a bad result of the Justice system.

Facts means nothing to these scumbags who have their sights set on ultimate control.

The show is on in Philly right now,,,,As stated,,,The root of the problem is to many weapons in this country! We must get Assault Weapons off the street. Again the cry for the children has been made....
Don’t want this to get political...... But again a bad guy does a bad thing and now they are singing out about weapons.
Not a word about the bad guy! But the NRA is a bad guy.....

Soooooo Kenney said: "They need help with gun control. They need help with keeping these weapons out of people's hands."

Convicted Felon who cannot buy guns legally NOW prompts a call for more gun control ?

Ummmm.

Philadelphia shooting: Police standoff ends, Jim Kenney gun law call

“It’s really scary that this is going on in a regular urban residential area. It’s makes you realize that gun control is really imperative. It’s out of hand," said Asya Richardson, who had just finished work for the day. "I don’t realize how much control we need over guns until things like this happen. I didn’t realize that people had that kind of weaponry.”

What "kind of weaponry"? The article said that a handgun was recovered from the suspect's body when the arrested him and that the house still wasn't processed because of the tear gas. The SWAT team thought he has a "long gun".

So what kind of weaponry are these people freaked out about? They don't even know what the guy had yet. For all this lady knows, and the mayor, the guy could have had a 5 shot J frame and a 5 shot bolt action Mosin Nagant.

Right now they know he had one handgun and one AR, that just came from the PC. They have not been able to enter the property due to tear gas leftovers.
They know nothing about any other weapons or ammunition....
It’s getting Deep!

I could be wrong here but wasn't their chief of police an advocate of the citizens being armed and having the ability to defend themselves? Is he still the chief or has he moved on?

READ this > RULES on HOW to use the 2A Forum

You’ll note the following:
What we SHOULD do here:
ALERT people to upcoming restrictive legislation at ANY level of government, and discuss and promote methods to fight it.

ALERT people to upcoming legislation (if any) that is supportive of gun rights, ownership, and usage or carry.

INFORM people on methods of being proactive in the fight, including encouragement to contact their legislators and/or congressmen.

We will always have plenty to talk about that is spot-on for this forum. Let's keep the clutter down, and stay focused on the object.

We all know that no additional laws would have stopped a violent repeat offender (narcotic, weapons, assault...) from resisting arrest with an already illegal firearm.
