So last weekend I went to the Phoenix gun show at the state fair center.

Pretty big show. A couple of observations:

-While busy Sat morning, I was surprised at how slow it was during the day.

-Prices for the same items varied WILDLY to say the least. I was looking for a Colt Rail Gun, black. I found a few in various finishes including a couple in black. Prices ranged from original sticker up to $1400+!! Wow! Over four hundred bucks over retail. Yikes. I noticed this with other things too. It really pays $$ to walk the entire show, even though it may take all dang day.

-What a great place to buy once-shot brass!

-As always there were lots of interesting folks and a lot of fun.

-I did not like the neighborhood the show was located in. A pretty seedy part of town, with lots of mopes walking around like zombies on the street outside the gate. I made a last-second, as-the-show-was-closing purchase and was one of the last people to head to the parking lot, and boy, that was a long and lonely walk to the car! Condition yellow....

About the only one I go to any more is the SAR show in December.
The regular shows at the Fair Grounds I have memorized.
From the old boy in the corner with all the old Winchesters he never sells, the Bear Arms guys and their 10 tables, Ken Elmore and his tables of awesome, the Nazi nuts, and the usual gang of suspects out in the tents.
And let's not forget the Asian guy with all his knock off stuff.
Haven't been to one at Phoenix Stadium though, that's just too far to drive.
Melanoma Valley indeed!

I had a pretty good day at the Phoenix Show. Picked up a minty Pre-Model 26 and a new in the box Model 14-2. :)
