Been needing a 640 no dash for a while. I had a 640-3 for a while but didn’t warm up to the .357 and prefer the unshrouded ejector rod and smaller frame.

Found this one for just under $400 and couldn’t pass it up. Serial is BKP****. It’s been shot but well taken care of. No box with it. A good companion to my early 90’s 36.

Nice find!!
I gotta get one but haven't found one for that good a price yet.

I bought mine not long after they came out. Still have it with the box, grips and all the paperwork. I have the price tag too and from memory think I paid $339 new. You got a good deal on yours. I still carry it occasionally especially when traveling and prefer it over the air weight variations. It’s much more comfortable to shoot and hold on target.

If below $400 I'd have got it to and made excuses to my wife!!!

Is that the all steel 640? I looked around for months and a big zilch. Love my 442-1 but would have preferred the steel 640.

Worst upon worst... LAY-A-WAY!!! I am a master at that! I dicker 'em down and then slap a lay-a-way on it!

My M640 is a result of steerage here on the SWF years ago.
Someone posted a FYI link to Centerfire Systems selling off a bunch of LE surplus 640's, and IIRC the price was about ~$315.
I got one and a bit of research showed they came from Michigan State Police.
Mine showed a few signs of carry, but mechanically perfect.
Came with Uncle Mike's grips, which I replaced with a set of S&W Target RB grips. (Pic shows some new-gen Pachs, which I hated.)

Carry it often in a Don Hume JIT holster that also is used for a M49.
As expected, it's a handful with magnum ammo, and you'll not go through an awful lot of them in drills and practice.

Just for grins, did put an Apex duty gun trigger kit in it, made a huge difference in the trigger pull with no sacrifice on reliability.
