I had an unexpected road trip dropped on my plate this last Monday and decided to make the best of it.

We’re working on a huge project up in Memphis for Mr. Elon and our upper management decided they didn’t need my team to help keep the 60K+ tons of temporary cooling online to cool the big brain.

I had already planned on being up there the week of Thanksgiving and the week of new years so I could really cash in on the double time plus bonus we were offered, but the plug got pulled and I got stuck flying up to Memphis on Monday and driving our on-site work truck back to Tampa.

I made the best of it; I got to spend Thanksgiving with two of my daughters that live in Tallahassee, and to soothe the pain of not getting all that extra money, I snagged a couple of nice S&W’s on the ride home.

This one is a fixed sight 1006 that I really didn’t need, but I haven’t seen many FS 1006’s in the wild and know they have to be somewhat less plentiful than the adjustable sight models. And I admit it, the FS model looks way better…I’ve had two adjustable sight 1006’s in the past and definitely like the FS model better.
It came with only one mag, no box, etc., but I’ve got waaaaay too many mags for my 1076 anyway. It’s nice to have a long slide 10mm 3rd gen back in the house:)

Oh, the other one I picked up with it is a LH 624 and I posted it in the 1980+ revolver section.

It looks just like mine.

My 1006 was my very first S&W semiautomatic pistol. My buddy bought it new in the summer of 1992 and sold it to me in the summer of 1996.

Nice piece! You’re lucky to have a lot mags for it, but you know that. ;) I sold my FS 1006 with one mag a while back; I kept my 1076 with 11-12 mags. I just picked up a mag with white follower for $25 from a gun show. seller who didn’t know what he had.
