Picked up a nice 3913

I have noticed the Al frame 3rd gens look yellow when they are dry. If you wipe the frame down with a good gun oil, it looks more gray and matches the slide better.

You done good, very difficult to find a 3rd gen for less than 5 bills these days, and those are the lesser desired ones.

Rosewood

OP that's a great grab!
I scored a very nice Alessi with a couple mags for my 3953 off the forum a couple of years ago. The Hogue grips are great on this gun. Former duty gun given to me at retirement. I used to carry it in a DeSantis Viper thumbreak scabbard.

Nice score on the model 3913. They are a great carry option.

I have a couple 3913s -- they're the LS and NL models. I also have several 3953s, that are the DAO models of the 3913, and my EDC in a Don Hume H715-M WCS IWB holster.

I had to announce my holster choice like others before me.;)

I have a 3914, and a 3953 (my favorite) but I just couldn't pass this 3913 for the condition and the price.

3913

Purchased my 3913 used back in 2019. Came with Hogue grips and 4 factory mags, two finger extension and 2 flat base for $400 OTD. As I was leaving the seller said wait a minute and went upstairs . Came back with a new Wolff spring kit for it. Said when he bought it he got two kits, put one in the gun. Said when he sold it to me it had 500 rounds on the kit. IMG_4318.jpg

I finally got one and it's on the way. Worked out great, we just got a carry gun for my Bride (HK, sorry but she is part German so i guess it's ok) and it was a perfect time for me to get a new gun. I just hope my FFL doesn't get tired of me calling him every 2 hours ...

I installed a Wolff spring kit in my 908 pistol about 12 years ago, and also polished out the bearing/wear points of the trigger mechanism. It now has an extremely smooth 9.5 lb DA pull and crisp 5.5 lb SA pull.

Update post #6

I just picked up this nice 3953. Came with box and another Galco 246. $500

It's been my daily carry for the past couple months.

It seems to be a matter of luck and being in the right place at the right time. Last September as we were packing up to move to Texas I noticed that a FFL that I've bought a bunch of 3rd Gens from had a later 3953TSW for sale at a decent price. I really shouldn't have bought it because the last thing I needed was another gun to pack.

Of course that didn't stop me.

A few months after we got to Texas and had finished the unpacking process I joined a local Texas shooters forum. Looking through the for sale listings a guy pretty close by had a nice 3913 Lady Smith. $425.00 with two magazines. Bought that one too.

I've seen a few 40xx guns in local shops, but I don't shoot .40 so I haven't bought any. Saw a nice 4046 for $315.00 the other day and was tempted.

Well I have been looking for a 3913 or a 3953 and I have not found any at these prices. Ya'll done good.

Back about 2016 I was thinking about picking up a 908 or another 3913 to supplement the one I own. I like the little alloy single stack 3rd gen 9's that much. :)

The only one I found locally (meaning in the general multi-county area), that I could examine, was a 908S on consignment. I didn't have the chance to break it down, but a cursory glance made it seem it hadn't been used as a range gun. Everything about the factory box seemed pristine, too. The owner wanted $650 for it, which was higher than I really wanted to spend, even on a pristine 3rd gen, but due to the condition I was tempted. I held off, though.

That was a good thing, too, as it wasn't that much later that I was offered the opportunity to buy a NIB 3913TSW for a price too good to let slip.

I wondered what all the fuss was with the single stacks until I bought one and really enjoyed it. A very nice ergonomic grip and feel. The only problem was finding extra magazines. It took a while, but i found them. Please take care of it and pass it in when you are done with it. they do not make them anymore.

The Hogues make it just right.
