just some pics i took. cant seem to get them to come out as good as other's photos. Enjoy! Also i'm pretty sure the manufacture date is sometime in 1976 as the warranty card that came with it says its effective December 1976 :D

Aren't the 36's just the neatest little guns? I found one about a year ago and fell in love. Mine's a dash-one, no box or papers, but I still can't bring myself to shoot it, it's just too pretty. Here's my lone glamour-shot of it......

Yet another one that stinks it bit the dust. That looks darn good. I have been thinking of trying to find one of these or try the new 2.5 inch 637. Now that I see these pics, I may just hold out.

ya, i love it, looks sweet to me. has really opened my eyes to handguns.... im so addicted to them already lol. just trying to find a good round for practicing that wont break the bank.

I just bought a 22lr m63 today because the ammo is so cheap.
I got 500 rounds for $20 at Bass Pro.
A box of 50 38 specials cost me $17.
I guess that's why 22's are getting so expensive

what grips are those, they look really nice!

Heres my favorite Chief: model 60 dash nothing.

Makes a great plinker, can sinker and all round utility revolver. Lives on a diet of 148 grain wadcutters.
Just hold a little front sight and it hits where it should with this light load.
Also Speer shot caps for the chicken snakes that just can't stay out of my chicken house.

I have the same gun in a round butt. It is my new hiking gun. I carry it in a Bianchi pancake holster. It stays loaded with two shotshells & three 158gr. cast SWCs. great little guns.

My Model 36-1 3' HB Square Butt

Here is my Early 197--'s Model 36-1 HB Square Butt I purchased in February of this year. I especially like the longer, heavier barrel for shooting. I think your pictures are fine...just look at mine compared to yours. Great Gun and pictures Protected!!! Thanks for sharing.

Hey,
You guys did me a favor with the comments on the 68-2, Note my new post. I have one and love it but thought it was a 66. The second six had beed over stamped with an 8.

I had a chiefs special way back in the 60s with a 2" barrel. I could cut black with it at 25 yards slow fire but it was strictly a short range combat weapon. The 3" barrel is sweet and would be the best Chief to own. That extra inch makes a difference.

ya nice gun man. i have a box thats just like that one. the warranty card implies that mine was manufactured in 1976. mine is a square butt also. just put 20 or so rounds through mine tonight. my groups were within about 6-7 inches at around 15 yds. since it was my very first time shooting a handgun (exept the 5 rounds i shot when i first got it) i guess it isnt too bad.

i do have a problem holding the gun naturally and comfortably. with the small frame, i find i have to hold it not with a full hand grip, but more with my fingertips.. otherwise my trigger finger cant squeeze the trigger all the way back. kinda weird, and again im very new to handguns. maybe i'll pick up some tips.

There is something wrong with your gun! IT'S TOO CLEAN :) :) :)

get out there and dirty it!!!

Looks great. I have one just like it. I find that the Tyler T Grip works wonders on the grip problem. If you plan to shoot a few hundred rounds through it in one day, you might consider a larger or rubber grip temporarily. I find that the Tyler T with the Factory wooden grips works well for me and I never have to change grips.

Mine likes the 158 grainers, it shoots low with the ligthter bullets.

ya the rounds i had were 125 grain, they were given to me with the gun, they shoot way low... kinda counter-intuitive... makes me wonder about the hornaday home defense for .38 special, they use a lighter bullet also.
