Pimp my glide

My order is in for a 9mm full-size M&P pro with the sweeter trigger and the night sights.

I got confirmation today that a Crimson Trace Light Guard and laser grips are on the way.

(And I just ordered 1000 rounds of Federal ammo for target practice).

Short of the paint jobs and art deco engraving - strictly in terms of improving accuracy and functionality - am I done or is there something else I should think about doing to pimp my glide?

I'm with you on the mags - I've been buying a few at a time for months.

I may have to think of a way to tag my mags so I can tell at a glance what ammo I have in them.

A new barrel for a new M&P Pro? I'm interested to hear your reasoning on that.

Same curiosity about needing to debur and polish something that's already been through the factory pro smithies; should I not expect them to have done that?

The Pro line trigger job is supposed to be very good - the APEX aftermarket triggers are supposed to be very good - does anybody have experience with both?

Sounds like one sweet ride you're puttin' together there! The only thing I could think of would be half a dozen extra mags platinum plated with titainium followers and base plates. LOL Congrats on the new piece....now go out and enjoy!

I used to have a Pro (sold it to a friend).
The APEX is a nicer trigger than what was in my Pro. I just swapped the sear and used a SSS striker block. It wasn't a dramatic change as it would be from a same era full-size. now the FSS would be a lot better than the Pro trigger, or send it out to get a trigger job done.

The difference with the Pro is just a sear change from the non-Pro models. there will most likely be rough edges that can be smoothed out.

I am a fan of tritium sights. I haven't jumped into the laser pool yet. I havent made a decision on whether to carry my M&P9 (fs). I would like the night sights, but I may have jumped too soon and I bought a M&P9 (fs) for $500 and I am reluctant to spend over $100 for the night sights. I did buy a Gemtech suppressor for my M&P22. You might look into a suppressor.

Regarding your question, have you invested in leather? By that I mean holsters. To me the laser is pretty much only for self defense or for combat. IMO, you will shoot better at the range with tritium (night) sights. If you want to pimp it, I would consider having the slide refinished in a silver finish. Some scroll work would be nice, but you aqlready mentioned engraving.

good luck finding a holster that works with the LightGuard right now, it's only a matter time though.

I've been in touch today with both Galco and Blade-Tech to get holsters custom-fitted to this combo. I also have CrossBreed and SpringTac holsters that will fit the 9 with any rail light.

I think the time is here.

Put the old fashioned trigger job on it, put about 2K rounds through it. Worked wonders for the trigger on my MP 40 Pro.

I use 10-8 Performance magazine base pads which have dimples on the bottom. You can color the dimples with nail polish (or whatever) to number your mags.

If you want something different, distinctive looking and something that actually improves performance a little bit, you might research nickel boron coating for the slide and barrel. S&W has featured them on its official website and several companies do the coating on an aftermarket basis.

I have seen some Glocks with carefully considered holes bored thru the slide to reduce weight--has anyone seen that on any M&Ps? I'm pretty sure it would eliminate S&W doing any future work under warranty, but it would be interesting to see!

I have used different colors of nail polish to fill the S&W logo on the factory mag baseplate along with the round count numerals on the mag bodies. Quick way to differentiate your mags, looks good, and makes the numbers much more visible.

I also found that this technique can highlight either the "40 S&W" or "9MM" markings on the mags making it less likely you will mix them up if you have more than one M&P.

Interesting approach - you got me staring at the mag - only I'm looking at the top of the base plate - two indentations - one on the left with the number 1 - one on the right that seems to invite a drop of paint.
