I wish that S&W would make some blued guns that were pinned, recessed and MiM-free. And of course these revolvers would be free of locks and other useless nonsense.

They could produce a line of revolvers called the Traditional Series. They need not have the traditional high polish blue. The simple matte finish found on the classic Model 28 would suffice.

Specifically, I would like to see these:

Model 24 with a 5" bbl;
Model 25 with a 5" bbl;
Model 27 with 5", 6" and 8.1" bbl.
Model 29 with 5", 6" and 8.1" bbl.

I guess I can dream.....

Yea, if they are going to bring out revolvers called classics they should be built to the exact spec's as the revolver they are suppose to be. That would be Pinned barrel and counter bored cylinder chambers and case hardened triggers ahd hammers. There should also be no MIM parts in the revolver period.

What they are selling is just a marketing scam to sell to people that don't know the difference and they spend more on a Classic Model then they would for a lightly used 27-2,29-2, ETC.

Go figure

How much money does S&W save by using MiM Parts? I somehow can't believe it can be a significant amount..............

I would love a true 5" model 24, and would someone please teach them to make grips??????? Go back to the old diamond grips and do it right, I'd be glad to pay more for good stuff.

I’m sure that there are more than a few of us who would be willing to pay a reasonable premium to purchase the modern equivalent of the old K & N frame revolvers that were made by craftsman who took pride in their work. For most of the 20th century the S&W N frames were the best revolvers ever built.
If S&W can afford to manufacture the “performance Center” revolvers, I would assume they could afford to manufacture a line of true classic revolvers. The ones that made the company famous.
If the Smith marketing team happens to read this consider running a business model on the feasibility of the above.

We'll never see it, the days of hand fitted P&R'd N frame revolvers is gone, replaced by the cookie cutter revolvers made today.

It's getting to the point where even stuff like new 4" Model 64-8's are starting to feel like "Classics".

I just bought a hardly fired 6" M28 made in 1967 for $400 the other day, why on earth someone would pay $800 for the "Classic M27" when S&W made plenty of 28's, for a lot of years and they are out there for hundreds less. I actually like the "Classic Series" for the sole reason it deflects clueless buyers away from the "real" classic S&W's so the prices don't start skyrocketing for the older stuff.

The Classic series Model 29 is marketed for guys with deep pockets who just watched Dirty Harry and want a S&W .44 Magnum without doing the legwork to find a nice, older one. They don't know or care about the MIM parts or lock because they take it to the range once, fire a few .44 Mags while doing Dirty Harry quotes and giggling to themselves and then the gun will sit in a gun safe for decades.

You say that like it's a bad thing! :D

I'd be satisfied to be able to buy new barrels and cylinders from S&W. I have plenty of model 28's around here, could make my own "Classic"
