Any "Brothers of the Leaf" on board? I'm a big fan of Rocky Patel and Cain. My favorite pipe maker is the unflappable Mark Tinsky.

Back when I smoked cigarettes, I tried smoking a pipe...my wife could tolerate that, but she hated cigarettes. So, I tried smoking a pipe at home. I don't how many pipes I went through, and kinds of pipe tobacco...never could find one I liked and could keep lit. Eventually, I quit smoking altogether.

My dad smoked cigars the last 10 years or so that he smoked...he inhaled them like cigarettes. He had his first heart attack at 60, and stopped smoking. I never could get used to cigars, although I would smoke the occasional one with him for companionship.

Probably not the input you were looking for...but that's my experience.

I really miss the Cuban cigars, I could get them when I was over seas. I do get Hondurans from Thompson that are pretty good, but their just not as good.

Rocky Patel cigars are probably my favorite right now. I maybe smoke 6-10 cigars in a year...not many, but I like good ones. The 1990 Rocky Patels are great...

I like the way cigars taste, but like the smell of pipe smoke. I recall as a youngster my grandfather was always smoking a pipe and I think of him whenever I smell a pipe burning. I seldom smoke my pipe - can't seem to keep it lit and it burns hot and doesn't taste as good as a cigar to me. B

I'll burn about 3-5 a week, triple that during rally week in the Black Hills. What I smoke is determined by price and availability. I like to try different things, but I do have my favorites. My local store carries a good variety of Rocky Patel. These days my go-to smoke is a Maduro Missile.

I average about 3 a week. I like a full-flavored, peppery stick, so I like a lot of Don Pepin's blends. The Vegas Cubanas is my favorite of his, but I also like the Black Label Cuban Classic a lot.

I'm also a fan of Pete Johnson's cigars. The Tats, Cubaos, and San Cristobal's are some of the best.

The Padilla Miami is an excellent cigar. I liked the older blend a little better, but the new blend is still very good. Also like the Padilla 68.

The Romeo y Julieta Cedro Deluxe #2 is good medium bodied smoke.

I've smoked a couple of OpusX, and while I think they're an excellent cigar, they're not worth the $25+ price per stick to me.

I enjoy cigars, average about 2 per day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon with some good coffee and I'm a happy man. Punch and Ghurka are two of my favorite brands, but I usually smoke JR alternatives to these. I've been smoking a pipe lately and like the Mac Baren Mixture Flake.

One of my favorite quotes.

"A fine hand carved ivory or block meerschaum pipe gives a wise man an aire of distinction ,
and a fool something to stick in his mouth."

Savinelli pipes have given me good service over the years, though I dispense with the little wood filters. I've got a bunch of kids though, so these days I'm down to a Dr. Grabow. That's okay though, it works and it isn't horrible. They're also available locally so I can get a replacement. And cheap enough to have a rotation. Not that I do anymore (but eh...)

Good tobacco meant a drive to Savannah for the most part, so I learned to like... well like is too strong a word... tolerate maybe... the big bags from Walgreens. They're not that bad if you learn to mix them.

The recent tax increases have made me skip cigars for the most part. I still remember when I could get a decent Mexican cigar for a buck fifty.

I roll my own cigarettes out of a blend of the same pipe tobacco. It's dirt cheap, costs me maybe 15 dollars a month total - papers and tobacco.

Recently I've figured out that the old folk tales about smoking tomato leaves as a tobacco substitute are true, I just have to figure out how to cure the leaves better. And grow more tomatoes....

I get to burn maybe one a week in the summer months only. Too dang cold already in East Tennessee. I also like the Padilla Miami, Cohiba Red Dot (supposedly Fidel's choice too), Man o war Virtue, Gurkha Crest. Cheaper stuff like the Bahia Trinidad by Tony Borhani, 5 Vegas Gold too.

had to quit cigars several year ago. favorites when i quit were montecristo #2 and edmundo, partagas sd#4, partagas#2,partagas shorts, and cohiba robusto. all from the island south of key west.

Big cigar smoker here, too. Favourite place to hang is the cigar shop to talk politics and guns. At any given time, I'm guessing over 1/2 the guys there are carrying.

I like cigars but can't afford them very often on a student's budget. I roll my own cigarettes with Stokkebye "Stockholm blend" and Elements rice papers. For $9 total I can keep myself in tobacco for an entire week.

Ashton Estate La Vieja Habana Bolivian Maduro. About $75 a box shipped from Thompson. I get them in a 6x54.

You are correct

"Drew" Estates, perhaps. Not aware of Ashton having what you described above?
25 in a box? $3 per is not bad.

They are Drew Estate, and yes 25 per box. I have smoked more expensive cigars that weren't as good.

Cigars! Last smoked, Fuente 858 SG. Last bought, 1961 Llaneza robusto, AVO Heritage robusto, Tatuaje Wolfman. :)

Don't smoke them much anymore as my asthma has gotten worse with age, but I have always loved a good cigar. Even my late wife loved the way the cigar made the house smell, reminded her of happier times when she was a child at her grandparents home. These days, I only smoke one or two a year, usually during the holidays with a good cup of coffee after the main meal.

I smoked my last one just two weeks ago at the wedding of my step-son. The wedding and reception was outside, so I bought some mild Macanudo Hampton Courts for the groom, his new father-in law and all of the groomsmen. It was a perfect evening, and the cigar just seemed to cap it all off for me.
