This rookie the PGH Pirates have, Paul Skenes, seems like the real deal. He has a 6 inning no- hitter and a 7 inning no hitter. Nolan Ryan was the only other rookie pitcher to do that. He’s 6-0 in 11 starts. He is one of several PGH pitchers that can regularly throw over 100 mph. He has his own pitch called a “splinker.” Split finger fastball that drops down at the plate from how it was explained to me. He’s a rookie pitcher that’s starting the All Star game. That doesn’t happen every year. He’s good!
The whole Pirate pitching lineup is pretty darn good. Their closer Bednar is money, too. Batting is average at best. Local announcers on the radio today were elated because if they win this last game before the break they will be a .500 ball team! YEAH for average!!!
