For those daily carrying or serving in harsh environments, or those of us who suffer from arthritis or diminishing hand grip strength, several companies, including Arachni-GRIP, offer products that can be applied to the pistol slide. These products provide an extra textured/rough service that aids the shooter in the manipulation of the slide during drills and live reloads, especially in cold and/or wet weather environments.
As an alternative, products like GatorGrip and many other "non-slip" tapes are available that can be owner cut and applied to slides, grips, and other gun surfaces. These tapes provide a custom "rough" surface where needed, without damage or the need for stippling.
It's truly amazing how adding a bit of this material can assist in manipulating any slide.....especially the pistols that contain recoil spring assemblies that employ two springs.
The Glock below left is tape I purchased, cut and applied.....the photo on the right is from an ad for ArachniGrip.
