I have a blued finish M 38-2 and would like to replace the 3 side plate screws, looking for source. And possibly go to a wolffe replacement spring set
[Lighter pull]
Thoughts?

Check out Brownell's under frame screws. They don't seem to have a kit but you can buy the individual screws.

Be advised that the front screw that also retains the cylinder crane is factory fitted. That is to say that the threads in the front portion have been ground down a bit so that the screw retains the crane without causing any binding. A non fitted screw will make it difficult to open the cylinder. You would need to measure the threads on the original with a good caliper. Measure the threads under the screw head and then measure closer to the tip. I fitted one using small file just a little at a time.

Old Chief, could you tell me where you found the screws at Brownells. I searched on line and went through the catalog and couldn't find them.

thanks,

Stu
