I own about a dozen S&W revolvers and a fair number of other handguns, but I have a clear favorite. A few years ago, my newly married son had bought a fixer-upper first home. I had not been retired long and I had a lot more energy than I do today, so helped him with the repairs and upgrades. We put in a lot of hours working side by side and that was its own reward.

I must have raised the man well, because when we had the worst part licked, he was bound and determined to show his appreciation. He knew that I would not accept any money for my help, so he and his wife sneaked around and bought me this. My boy made the tool to load and unload the moon clips to match the stag grips. I believe that of all the things that I have accumulated in my life, this would be the last item that I would part with. In my inventory, I have made it clear that when I die, it will be returned to him.

Smith and Wesson model 22-4 in nikel finish.

Beautiful story. Acorns don't fall very far from the parent tree, you know. I suspect your son will treasure that S&W now in your possession, more so because it was yours. I dearly hope he'll have an offspring who'll be into firearms and will be passed along to her or him.

Thanks for the thought.

Later.
