please help date model 46

please help me date model 46 serial # 24884 would that put it about 1958?

Dating

the best way to find out for certain as to When it was Shipped, would be to get a factory Letter From Roy, or be happy with close enough range.
I'm sure its the early version with square cut out at the breech.
I would not fire this gun, as the slides tend to crack, which is why they modified them for later production on the 46.

I was led to believe they were only built in 1963-64 as I own one as well and just love it. Of course I may be wrong but I know they were a low amount of them built compared to the 41.

There were approximately 4,000 Model 46s produced from 1959-1968.

Ok that means my 46 which is serial no.49427 was shipped shortly or a few months of July24th 1963 from what I have read. Been a great gun and still is as well.
