Please help ID this S&W Revolver

It's a WW2 British Service Revolver. If there's no V in front of the SN, then it was purchased by them prior to the lend/lease agreement circa 1940. The grips are covering the hole for the lanyard ring.
This early, it would have had a commercial blue finish, and checkered walnut service stocks with flush silver color medallions.

Please take off those grips & post a picture of the serial number on the butt.
 
Alright, no "V" there, so Chris had it correct above in identifying it as a Military & Police in the British Service Revolver configuration. He's also spot on regarding the original finish & grips. I believe guns in this serial number range most likely shipped in early 1941.
