i recently purchased two s+w m+p model pistols. 1 was sold to me as a model 1905-3. but after talking to a guy on gunbroker i'm not sure. it has a 5" barrel. no model #on the swing out. the serial # is c148xxx. was told when i bought it it was made in 1915, but i don't think so. it has made in usa on the side in both english and spainish, it is a .38 s+w. the grips don't look like a 1905, but they may have been replaced. the other gun i bought from gander mtn, as a model 10 special.was told it has a 4 and1/8" barrel. the serial # is s939xxx. the salesman said the s stood for special, but again i'm not so sure. it has no model# in the swing out area, just the letter s and a different # it has the words made in usa on the side but not in spainish(don't know if this would help date it or not). it has a diamond shape in the grips. would like to know what the c and or the s mean in the serial numbers, as everyone seems to have an opinion and nothing in stone. and if possible when they were made. any info would be great. thank you.
