I was leafing through the current (March) issue of the NRA's American Rifleman magazine this morning, when I came across a book review that they did on my book 101 Classic Firearms. I think they pretty much nailed describing the format and intent of the book, and I was very pleased with the favorable review. It's on page 34 if you have a copy.

By the way, the book is still available from Dillon Precision, and it includes articles on 17 Smith & Wesson firearms. You can order autographed copies, as well. These also make great gifts for friends and relatives who are interested in guns!

I haven't read your book but I have read 'most all your articles, either here or in the Dillon monthly mag. I always enjoy them and I almost always learn something new. You do good work! The review was good enough that I think I better order up a copy of the book now.

John:

Your book review was the first thing that I saw when I flipped open my copy of American Rifleman this month. (Hard to flip, too, with the ballot, instructions, and ads stapled in!). Anyway, I recognized that this was the book that you had mentioned in another thread I read recently. I plan to order one soon!!! Looks like it will be a welcome addition to my library. Glad that you received the nice review in AR. Best of luck with sales, ...

Update: Well, I know how I sometimes put things off... Just wanted to let you know that I just went to Dillon's website and ordered your book...an autographed copy at that.

I received you book some time ago, and have been intending to let you know how pleased I am with it. I teach in a local community college and have taught at the local university, 36 years between the two, and have put in 22 years at the local PD. I have been a firearms instructor since 1977. One of the classes that I have taught consistently during those years is "Firearms in Police Operations ", CRJU 2209. I am always looking for new firearms lore. I have been a firearms "collector", or more accurately, "accumulator ", since I was presented with my first 22 rifle when I was about , if I remember correctly, about nine years old. I owned my first .22 pistol at about ten. I was particularly struck by the similarities between our evolution as enthusiasts.

Anyway... Just wanted to compliment you on the wonderful book. I have read most of it, but have to admit that after I read the introduction, and first gun pages, I started skipping around, sort of the way I "collect" guns... I just follow my nose, and see where it leads me. I have enjoyed the book very much, and would recommend it to any firearms enthusiast. I particularly like the fact that it is printed and bound in the USA.

I also collect books. I suppose I am an inveterate bibliophile. This volume will occupy an honored place on the shelves with my other firearms themed books.

Regards, Les
