Years ago an English friend of my Grandmother introduced me to plum pudding. At the time I thought it was delicious. Anyone recommend a store bought brand?

Other than a lyric from a Christmas song, I’ve never seen or been offered any figgy pudding. Just assumed it was one of those strange things the Brits eat.

I suspect LVSteve will be along shortly to chime in on this one. I've had it once and it was a "meh" moment for me. Kinda like mincemeat pie and fruit cake. I can think of way better ways to take my calories, sugar and carbs than any of the aforementioned treats.

About 40-45 years ago I got a case of the munchies and ate a fruitcake. It wasn't that bad, and a smear of Philly Cream Cheese on it really hit the spot. Mom found out I ate it and she yelled at me! "That thing's been in the family for 62 years! What the (heck) were you on that made you eat that thing?" I was living alone, the bars were all closed, and, well, I was hungry! And Dylan, my Doberman/Shepherd mix, helped me eat it, too!

I love fruitcake. Goes great with a cup of hot coffee in the evening. Dozens of different kinds of fruitcake too. Blame Johnny Carson for the fruitcake scorn.

Try Harry and Dave’s Fruitcake Concoction.
A while back now my FIL sent these out.
Let’s just say its a Cut Above most Fruitcakes including the excellent Collins Street Fruitcakes from Waco.
I should add you ain’t eat any bottom end Fruitcake until you have eaten Survival Kit Fruitcake.

My mom made a wonderful Christmas/figgy/plum pudding (which contains no figs or plums). She served it with either warm custard or hard sauce on top. I so looked forward to it.

Last Christmas was the first without her and I ordered one from Amazon made by Matthew Walker. It was pricey but quite good. I will order another one here in a few days.

Don't forget the custard.

Different tastes for different folks. Thank goodness or we all would be chasing the same six women, and that sure wouldn't work!

If you look up "British Foods" on the web, you will find at least two on line stores, one in Allentown PA, the other in Mass. Either one provides excellent "Plum puddings" and a lot of other UK-themed food. Been using them for years after leaving the "home turf" in 1968. Dave_n

Always heard of plum pudding, never had the chance to try it.

As far as fruitcake goes, I've tried it 2x.

You can have it.

Maybe it's because I don't like coffee and seems like a lot of people like the 2 together?
