Thanks JohnRippert for posting that link. I had wanted to pick up one of these ever since I let mine get gone a few years back. These look to be nice ones!

Thanks John!
I have been wanting a 640.
Haven't seen one anywhere close to that cheap!
So I just ordered one.

Ok guys... I've been looking at getting a 640 Pro someday, but would like to have a steel frame to mimic my 642 for practice. Here in San Diego, I haven't found a dealer who will do the transfer for less than $45. Would this still be a decent deal for a steel frame snub at $370? Seems like it to me but I'm not up to speed on the aftermarket. Actually, I might be out of luck anyway if it's not still on the safe gun roster.

Others may differ but I don't think that price is to high. These are quality revolvers and I don't think there will be many offers below Centerline's price. IMPO.

Just so you'll know-
Centerfire just charged me $324.99 ,
Plus $12.99 ground shipping
Plus. $10.29 credit card fee
Plus. $4.99 Hand Gun Signature Fee. Say what?
For a total of $353.26
I'll pay my local FFL holder Phil Bozza a $25 fee.
These guns were most likely issued to detectives- brass. I expect the piece to be in great shape.
The only dice roll are the grips.
I can hardly wait!
Anticipation builds!

Yep, that sounds like what I paid as well. I got lucky and found a guy that lives a couple blocks away to do transfers for $20. I don't have a problem with the "signature fee" since their shipping is low. Like The Pilgrim, anticipation. I was hoping that the heads up would give a bunch from this forum a chance at them. I doubt if Centerfire will mind if we get them all.

Is "HG0421" the Centerfire part number or the S&W part number? Google didn't help me. We have three Model 640's on the roster (besides the current 640 Pro).

640-1 SKU 103690A

640-1 SKU150784

640-3 SKU 163690

Guess I will call them tomorrow. It may be a personality disorder but I tend to like saving used guns for some reason. Kind of like a lost puppy.

Thanks for posting OP.

Thanks for the heads up. Another online retailer has had them for a while and I have been hesitating at buying at his $435 price tag for police trade ins. I'm glad I did. I just ordered mine!

Ditto! I agree, I'm like you in respect to a lot of carry but not much use.
Do you think that the armorer from where these came ( that would be interesting to know!) from would have done any trigger work?

Well, rolled the dice a bit and put in a check order. So will call tomorrow to confirm since there will be time to wait for clearing anyway. Thanks all.
