Polish P-64?

Fell in love with mine. Low capacity, low power, heavy trigger, but I could shoot it accurately. Money was low so I sold it to buy an SP101 for CC. If you purchase one watch around on eBay for mags. I picked up a pile of mags for less than $10 each due to a bad description (no one bid on them). Note that the P64 only has a decocker, no safety

Mine was a 1967

All steel. Well machined inside. Robust. More powerful than a 380. Less so than a 9mm.
VERY heavy double action trigger pull (But Wolff has great springs. Single action trigger let off is NOT similar to Walther and requires getting used to. General manual of arms is identical to a PPK.
Recoil is noticeable (It's not called the Polish pounder for nothing).
Hornady loads their XTP ammo for self defense. Hollow points feed great. I wouldn't trust the so called Bi-Metal Hollow Points to expand, but they are a cheap shoot.

I have owned 2. They are very well built.
They shoot very well, but have some recoil to them. The double action trigger pull is 23 pounds.
I think Wolf makes a reduced hammer spring kit that helps a bit.

Good stuff for sure! Only problem with them is what I would classify the gun as??? A lot of people would describe them as a good conceal carry gun but the gun looks almost to big to me for that. Thats the only problem with milsurp guns. They are usually a bit too big and clunky looking. I would rather put the extra $100 bucks on a good used Smith and Wesson Auto.

Thanks for all the replies!

After reading your replies plus what was posted on the net and my trying to pull the double action trigger and in addition to the fact that they discouraged carrying one in the chamber my mind was changed and I did not go for it. (Sorry for all the "ands") I really do appreciate your sharing your knowledge and experience on this Polish Pistol. Thanks to all!

The double action pull on these is so horrible that many simply thumb cock the hammer to make the first shot single action. One has to wonder what those Poles were thinking when they designed it that heavy.

IMHO, a nice Makarov PM is leagues better than the P64. From less recoil, greater magazine capacity, fewer parts to go wrong, ergonomics, trigger pull, the PM has it in spades over the slightly smaller P64. Bulgarian made PMs can be had now for just over $250 in like-new, unissued condition right now. Here is one of mine and after approx. 1,600 rounds of ammo with 0 failures of any kind, I can assure you that I love it:
