I always choose a blued gun over a stainless or nickeled gun with few exceptions. Those exceptions are if the gun is to be often carried or if it will be carried in inclement weather conditions. Then nothing beats a stainless gun. If a gun is just for range use, competition, collection, etc. I always prefer traditional old school blued guns. They are easier to shoot - especially in the sun and I like the looks of them so much better.
Stainless does offer great advantages over blued or Nickel as it can easily and quickly be brought back to pristine condition with nothing more than sandpaper and a few scotchbrite pads of different grits. That said, I would not buy a "dog" in the first place and I do take excellent care of my guns so there is really no need for a refinish.
My only 3 stainless guns are a M60-7, a M63 and a M65. Those were all intended to be carried a lot and I did want the advantages of stainless. All my other revolvers are mostly blued, with a few Nickel plated ones for good measure. One M36 was inherited so no choice there and the other two are a matched pair of Colt SAA's with Stag grips. The rest are all blued guns. My M586 6" was made and purchased in 1983. It is still in excellent shape and shoots very well.
