I thought I'd try a poll to see what members thoughts were on grips to use in IDPA on my 66. I've used Miculek's before, was thinking about trying Herretts or Eagle Classics. If you've used any in the poll, please share your thoughts. I prefer wood, BTW.
Thanks :)

Herrett's Jordan Trooper. I get them more oversize than they'd make based on my hand outline and reshape them a bit to suit. They're on all my revolvers. I do also have a set of Pachmayr Compacts for a K frame, the version with the covered backstrap and I've added silicone adhesive (E6000) to put more material over the backstrap. Hard to find grips that fit if you have long hands/fingers.

I have a set of the rubber Hogue grips from an X-Frame on my Model 10.

Man-those draggon sales are neat-I have 2 guns with the lamo camos and am really fond of them, what are the other ones, and do they shoot as good as they look? Thanks, Flapjack.

When speed matters I haven't found anything superior to rubber. Depending on the grip frame I would go with either of the following.

For a square butt the Pachmayr Gripper Pro. IMO there is a reason why this particular grip was so predominate among Police that carried revolvers, it fits most hands very very well. Another plus is the rubber is a hard enough compound that it permits consistent recoil management.

For a round butt grip frame I would choose the 500 Magnum monogrip. A bit larger than the Pachmayr but I find they fit my hand very well. In addition, it also features a harder compound which I prefer. Like it enough that I have one mounted on my 620, 610-3, and 625 JM.

The dragon scales are a tad better on the grip surface. They would be much better if they covered more area but that costs much more.

The other ones are just your everyday Pau Ferro variety.

I don't shoot competitively yet so I won't vote. But I'm surprised no one had said Ahrends Tacticals. The squared front makes my hand instinctively lock into the grip. The finger grooves he mills even fit my hand so that one feels like he made if from my hand. I know hands are all different but I keep checking this and there is just the one mention of his Retro Combats. Those have the rounded front with the much less aggressive finger grooves so I bet they work too, but I am really impressed with the Tacticals. I keep thinking of getting a good load worked up for my GP100 since the Hogue grip for it fits my hand so well, but maybe I need to step up an L frame purchase since I'm so in love with Ahrends Tacticals. And I did just step up production with a progressive press… I'm running out of excuses not to compete…
