Just thought I'd post this in case someone wanted to "improvise" a "mag pouch" for their Shield for use at the range, etc. I recently purchased a 9mm Shield and I love it. I was looking for something to carry my mags in to where I shoot and remembered I had a double mag pouch for 1911 45ACP mags. The one I have is a "repro" that I got for my SigSauer 1911-22 mags.
Anyway, I gave it a try to see if it would work and was surprised to find out that it worked just fine on my Shield mags. The flap will close with one or two 8 round mags or will work with the 7 round mags as well - when snapped shut, even though the 7 round mags are shorter, they won't fall out.
If a person wanted something to use for hiking, woods walking, etc. - either a repro or an original should work just fine. The back of them usually have a belt loop to slide over the standard web military pistol belt so a regular leather belt will work just fine.
Not fancy and not nice leather - but it works just fine for "range shooting" until I can get time to make my leather mag pouches made for CC. I'm not sure what the web mag pouches cost now but I used to be able to find them at gun shows, etc. at fairly reasonable price. I plan on picking up a couple more just to hold my spare mags in my range bag.
