...or Honey, I went to the gun show with four guns and came home with five!
I was hoping to make a trade for that M58 I’ve been chasing, but the gentleman wasn’t at the show in his usual spot. Oh well, another show, another day. Finally got to meet Erocksmash and say Hi, then stopped by Merlin’s table to say hello. I did see a few nice S&W’s: a 539 in very nice shape, a 66-2 snub that I pondered trading my 629 for, but the gentleman said he was trying to pare down his revolver collection. I also saw what was tagged as an Australian contract pre-Victory in pretty decent shape. It had a Park finish and the lanyard ring, but I didn’t pick it up to examine closely; I wish I knew more about them. Then I spotted a 4013 that was a little dirty, but in really good condition. The asking price was $450 and I offered $350 thinking he wouldn’t go for it and I’d just walk. He just said OK, which I wasn’t expecting. But if you offer a man your bottom price and he accepts, well what do you do? The only honorable thing is to buy it of course! So I came away with a very nice 4013 with two mags. The trigger play spring in it is the best condition of any of my 3rd gen Smiths.
