Hey, guys. I have been looking for a new (older) Centennial to replace my 442, now I've got a 50's vintage Model 40 en route and I just won this auction...I think I'll be sitting good for a pocket gun now
It was listed as a Model 42, but it didn't look like a 42 when I clicked on the page. I cracked open my SCSW and apparently it looks like it could be a Model 042...from what I read, this seems to be an 042. It's got the older box, a pinned firing pin, forged parts, no airweight marking, no +P marking, and Uncle Mike's combat grips. I know they made these in a matte blue and a polished blue, this one appears to be a matte blued example.
I've gathered that these are somewhat scarce...with only ~4,500 made in 1992. The seller said he bought it from the original owner who only ever put 3 cylinders through it. Says it's ANIB. I'm excited to have a gun that's much like my 442, just without MIM parts or the J-magnum frame...also it seems to be a bit of an oddity. I just won it for $400 shipped...how'd I do?
