I really don't pay too much attention to post counts, but I noticed mine this morning had gone from a bit over 800 to about 300. Wonder what happened to the other 500?

Same here. I was a Senior Member too. Handejector can you tell us what gives??

Oh, ok. There must still be a purge going, because the latest deletions occured in the past few days. I rarely post in the lounge, new members, etc, so most of the 500 missing posts were indeed data posts. As noted, it really doesn't make any difference. Just thought it a bit strange.:D

JAWHTMPC Thread.

"Just another 'what happened to my post count thread'"

Absolutely Zero (That is none, nada, zip, zilch) posts were deleted, remove, sequestered, trashed, impeached or lost.

That was ZERO. No Posts, no threads, no users were deleted.

Your post counts were inadvertently reset to ACTUAL posts on this forum. If you take the total of everyone's current post count, it equals the total number of posts on this forum. That is both before and after your post counts were "adjusted".

Both the current and the former owner frequently "pruned" the forums, when we were on the old software. Those pruned messages continued to be shown in your post count. Not any more. Poof! They are gone, history, down the drain, taking a dirt nap, sleeping with the fish.

No pruning of posts has taken place since the forum moved.

Speaking of moving...can we move along now?

If you had gone to the "office" or done a simple search, you would have found this topic completely covered before. The search function is located at the top right of every single page on this website.

Sorry,
The IT Guy is a little testy after explaining the reset for a few days.
As he said, NO posts have been deleted since the last time I pruned- back in March, I believe, may have been April.

Here is the reason- "dead threads" accumulate in sections like the classifieds. They have no pics, no prices, and sometimes no original text because the OP deleted it.
Likewise, The Lounge accumulates thousands of threads. After they become months old, no one cares about them. Same with New Members Intros and Wish List threads.

On Groupee, when we exceeded our allowance of posts for the base package, it cost at least $400 extra per month.
So, I pruned those areas.
When pruning them was not enough, I pruned the oldest stuff in the Data forums.
The Data forums will no longer be pruned- NOT EVER.

So, anyway, when we deleted threads that had a member's posts in it, his post count stayed the same. The Groupee software had the option of showing all the posts you had ever made, or showing the posts that actually remain on the board.
This software has the same option. The setting was never changed. A glitch caused the software to show actual posts remaining on the board.

If most of a member's posts were in The Lounge and the classifieds, his post count went down severely, because those posts were deleted long ago.
If most of a member's posts were in the data section, he did not lose as much off his post count because most of those posts still exist.

I think the IT guy needs a group hug.

I took a bit over 2000 of my posts and put them around my yard and made a fence, so they didn't go anywhere, you just can't see them any more unless you look out back.:D

It's like resetting your age..... makes you feel younger - once you get over the shock :D
