O.k got my mp15-22 back from smith right before Christmas. I have not got to take it out till today. ( no indoor range and terrible weather ) It warmed up to a balmy 38 degrees today:rolleyes:, so took it out w/ some friends. Shot 350 rounds fed bulk with 1 ftf. Believe me this was user error from loading mags fast. It was getting dark and hard to see the rounds were stacking right when I was loading them. I am very satisfied right now :) Targets at 50 yds seemed perfect. Everybody that was there wanted to shoot it. I let a few guys shoot a mag. There all thinking of buying one now. Couldn't be happier:D Thanks Smith!! By the way, the original issue was ftf with some fte. Both appear to be fixed.;)

Congrads, since i got mine back from S&W in October, been sooooooo much fun!!!!

My experience

I just joined this forum and thought it time to add my 2 cents. I bought my gun just before X-mas. Same old story, lots of missfires and missfeeds. I sent it in and got the usual "updated to latest spec" documentation upon return.

I took her out for a test fire this afternoon. Much lsess misfires but I'm averaging having a lot of misfeeds. These seem pretty scary as the unfired bullet lodges between the breech and the bolt. The bolt actually smashed the bullet so hard that it sometimes bends the bullet or at least puts a huge dent in one side. I've attached some pics.

The strange thing is that the bullet becomes stuck vertically in the forward lip of the magazine. You almost need a pair of plyers or something to get it off of the mag. I guess I'll need to send it back. Any thoughts?

My 1 ftf out of 350 rds is exactly what you described. I would do a search on how to load these mags. I followed everything they said and today had no problems until I hurried loading. You really need to look on the other side of those mags WHILE your loading to make sure there stacking right. Also what kind of ammo were you using? BEST results seem to stand with federal and cci. One point you'll find on your search that i think helps alot is to let the thumb assist go COMPLETLY after each round loaded into the mag. Just my .02 I would do a search. A huge amount of info on all these problems in this forum with a lot of knowledgible people. Good luck;)

Corporal p has u on the right track.. couldn't have said it better... there are a good pics in those threads to show you how it should look

Thanks for the quick response. I was using Federal today. No misfires. I thought I was loading correctly. I did read about needing to make sure they were stacking alternately and I check to make sure. they seemed to be stacking in an alternating pattern. I was checking the primer side for the alternate patter. Perhaps I need to reread. Thanks again. God it was fun when it worked!!! Love this gun. Amost every toy I've owned had it's quirks so I'm sure I can adjust once I figure this out.

Extremely important - but easy to check as you load. If one gets out of the staggered pattern you're probably going to have a problem.
