Howdy, All,

Are the grip frames on a postwar Terrier round butt with a flat mainspring (with strain screw) and a postwar Regulation Police square butt with a flat mainspring the same length? If my information is correct, I believe both guns will have the service type front sight.

If you by chance have both models and are willing to help, will you please post a butt-to-butt photo of the two guns with the top straps aligned on the same plain (i.e., both top straps aligned with piece of wood or any square object)?

I've not seen anyone ask this question before, but I think it could be an interesting bit of trivia for folks interested in the models.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you very much for the photo, jcelect.

Is that truly a postwar Regulation Police. I hadn't remembered the relieved back strap to accommodate the square butt stocks. Thanks for the refresher.

I believe the relieved backstrap was used up to the introduction of the SB mod 33 in 1949. They also dropped the "Regulation Police" stamping at that time. I cannot recall ever seeing a Terrier with a flat main spring.

My prewar Terrier with a 1937 ship date had a flat mainspring. I'm looking for the earliest Regulation Police with a true square butt, and without a relieved back strap.
