This section is limited to issues on reloading.

I THINK this fits here because I am not looking to buy or I'd have to use the WTB Forum - I need direction - where does one find powder used for reloading 9mm ammunition? It's not as simple to locate on the Internet as you might think because finding an online link and actually finding the powder are two different things!

I just need to give advice to some friends - they can go find it and buy it.

Thanks.

Get a reloading manual, look up the section on 9mm. Buy anything listed in the manual, done.

gunbot.net might help you find powder in-stock on-line.

Check your LGSs and many (indoor) ranges armed with a list of powders suitable or at least useful to your needs.

A quick check at Powdervalley.com (a really good online place to buy btw) shows Titegroup, CFE Pistol, and Longshot available when just checking Hodgdon. Best to buy 8lbs to spread the $28.50 Hazmat fee plus shipping minus sales tax across ~8,000 rounds (using CFEPistol).

Perhaps you don't yet have a list of online vendors to check . . . gunbot.net will show you the most likely suspects.

Looks like you are in the metroplex, there should be literally hundreds of gun shops, pawn shops and shooting ranges around there. That's your best bet, if you buy on line and have it shipped you will have to pay a hazmat fee. Here in Abilene all the gun shops have a pretty good selection of powder, I just picked up a pound of w231 today. Good luck.

There are a number of places to find powder in the DFW area. The obvious Big Box places are Cabelas and Bass Pro. I typically buy online and the Hazmat fee can be offset against the tax savings and price fairly easily when ordering a few pounds and/or combining with other components like primers.

Here are a couple good threads to follow.

Good luck, things are MUCH better now than they have been the last couple years!

MidSouth is one of my favorites!

You'd be surprised how few gun shops there are. Plenty more than New York City, etc., but it's not like you pass one on every corner. Plus, there are even some that do NOT carry reloading supplies.

But this was all helpful and I thank y'all and I'll pass it on.

Power Pistol is my go to powder for high velocity calibers, and what I recommend for 9mm.

Now you finding some in your area is another story. I am so thankful that I have a wholesale distributor 20mins from me that stocks everything and sells to the public.

Last time I bought, 1 pound of PP was $18.00. And Winchester primers were $27 per 1000 box.

Try this link, may have to cut and paste:

44 Magnum Load Data - Handloads.Com

Also, Alliant BE86 is being pushed as a 'one size fits all' for pistol loads by Alliant and I've seen it on the shelves locally. Alliant does provide loading data for it in most handgun calibers on their web site.

Trap and Skeet ranges often sell shotshell reloading components. Many
of the fast burning powders powders have dual application, shotshell
and handgun cartridges.
