Hi. What is the trigger reach like on the model 52 38spl compared to a 1911?

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a 52 and have it modified for PPC or buy a PPC 1911 9mm like Les Baer's. They both cost about the same. The 52 will need a lot of work like Aristocrat 3 way sight and 6 round magazine mod. And extra 52 magazines are very expensive. I think I need 5 magazines. I assume a Baer 1911 PPC will be ready to win right off the shelf.

If you are an LEO you may want to consider a S&W Performance Center PPC9. If the still make them they had the option of a 5" or 6" barrel.

I myself have always been partial to the 1911. In the end it comes down to what trigger system you like best. I had a S&W PPC9 5" and she was an unforgiving b#$%h. I ended up sticking with my old Springfield 1911 5" with the aristocrat full sight rip in .45acp.

Whatever you decide enjoy and good shooting

PPC1911 vs 52

You may want to consider a Performance Center 952. It is cross between the model 39 and model 52. The 952 comes in 5 inch and 6 inch and is 9MM. I have the 5 and 6 inch models and they are excellent pistols for accuracy and reliability.

Maybe it is just me

Howdy,
I have had several 52's over the years and love them. There is a problem for me though.
Back in the early to mid eighties I got the bright idea that a 52 would be an edge at Bianchi cup. I learned that nine times out of ten a 52 wont cut your thumb off when drawn from a holster.
I still think it was a good idea, but if I didn't make a perfect draw it would hammer bite me like an alligator. It would stop the gun and make a person dance! Twice in about five draws regulated the 52 back to bullseye.
I have both 1911 and 52 and still shoot a little PPC. When I do, and I shoot auto class, I shoot the 1911.
Good luck what ever you choose
Mike
