It's a very sad day in our City and County. One of our finest, Capt. Dennis Cagle a 25 year veteran with the Henderson Police Dept, was killed in the line of duty during a armed robbery at the Save A Lot.

Dennis did manage to fire back at the robber after he had been shot. Another officer came in and pulled Capt.Cagle out of the line of fire and also fired at the guy shooting off 2 fingers including his trigger finger. The robber was hit multiple times and is still living but in critical care. He has a long criminal record and was just released on 50.000 bond in our jail on November 7 or 8th for domestic violence. His wife has also been arrested for driving the car.

I worked with Capt. Cagle over the years and he was a fine officer. I stayed in the room until the very end of his life. I can't tell you guys how difficult this has been and will continue to be.

What a damned shame.

My prayers are with Capt. Cagle's family and brother and sister officers.

that is a horrible thing to happen, and at any point in my life if I feel an officer is in danger you can bet I will lend my gun to help, I am sorry for your loss and thankful we have brave officers like him watching over us as we sleep

My condolences to the family, and his friends and brother officers.
I don't think that most of us civilians really have any idea of just
how dangerous and unpredictable life is for LEO's.

My condolences also, to the family, friends, and fellow officers.

Godspeed,

Tim,
I heard this morning,it went across the radio to all counties in our area.
Really sad,I was so hoping he was going to pull through.
Truely a sad day around here.We will be praying for his family.

Be thou at peace, Captain Cagle; you died a warrior.

To smith41mag: Please take care of yourself, too. I am sure Captain Cagle knew you were there at the end and was comforted knowing you were with him.

Condolences for all involved, my late father was a TPD officer and these stories strike a nerve for me.

Hopefully the perp ends up dying a long and painful death and the bitch behind the wheel gets the needle.

another one of my brothers has paid the highest price he could for the people of his town

god bless you

How terrible! Another brave and decent man killed by a thug out on bail. Thirty years he served to make his area safer, and now he leaves a widow at Christmas time.

Prayers go out to his family and the law enforcement community in his area.

Tom

I graduated from Freed Hardeman. It's hard to believe such violence takes place in such a small city.
